Three people allegedly involved in the burglary of a vehicle were taken into custody within minutes of the crime this evening (Wednesday, Aug. 17) thanks, in part, to the prompt response of Lawrence Township police officers.

It was about 6:15 p.m. when township police were notified that a vehicle had just been broken into in the parking lot of a small row of restaurants and businesses in the 1200 block of Lawrence Road (Route 206) and that the suspects – two young men and a woman – had fled in the direction of The Church of Saint Ann.

Numerous police officers responded to the area and, aided by detailed descriptions of the suspects given by witnesses, soon located one of the males and the woman at the corner of Lawrence Road and Lawrence Avenue, not far from the church.

The three suspects were detained for questioning. A short time later, after police had gathered additional information, all were formally arrested. Each was handcuffed and placed into a different police vehicle.

Police said they planned to charge one of the male suspects with theft, burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, while the other male would be charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, and the woman charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.

Following the arrests, police officers could be seen gathered around the vehicle that had been broken into, dusting it for fingerprints and collecting other evidence.
