Stalking, Harassment Charges Filed Against Ewing Man

Lawrence Township police said Jeremy Smith, 27, was previously arrested for allegedly trying to sell marijuana to a man who instead pulled out a gun and robbed him of the narcotics back in February.

A Ewing Township man who was arrested in February for his alleged role in a failed drug deal/robbery was arrested again on Saturday, March 23, and charged with stalking and harassment, according to Lawrence Township police.

Police said Jeremy Smith, 27, of Windsor Court, Ewing, was taken into custody after he allegedly approached and threatened a resident of Gary Court, which is located off Bunker Hill Road in Lawrence Township.

Police declined to say if Smith’s latest arrest is connected to his previous run-in with the law on Feb. 19.

On that day, as previously reported, Smith called police and claimed that, while at the Steward’s Crossing apartment complex off Bunker Hill Road, he had been robbed at gunpoint of $50 by someone he knew by the name of “Rich."

Police soon identified the alleged gunman as 20-year-old Richard Giehl and located him at his home on Gary Court.

As a result of their investigation, police said, it was revealed that Giehl had stolen a Glock 9 mm handgun from his father and had used that weapon to steal a quantity of marijuana that Smith had allegedly offered to sell him.

Giehl was taken into custody that day and charged with theft, armed robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of marijuana under 50 grams.

Smith, meanwhile, was also arrested at that time and charged with multiple drug offenses, police said.
