South Brunswick Police Receive Top National Recognition

Written by South Brunswick Police Department:

Chief Raymond Hayducka announced Monday that the South BrunswickPolice Department has been recognized as being an exceptional police agency by receiving National Accreditation from National Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

A team of CALEA assessors spent three days in October observing Department activities and conducting community interviews that included township leadership, community volunteers, the media, legal and judicial officers and other area law enforcement agencies.

They also collected comments from the community at a public meeting. The South BrunswickPolice Department passed the stringent on site evaluation after satisfying more than 472 standards. CALEA assessors looked at such areas as use of force, personnel structure and processes, and training. The assessor team was impressed by the Department’s high state of operational readiness, and the knowledge and enthusiasm demonstrated by sworn officers and civilian employees.

“The national recognition shows that our agency meets the highest standards for policing,” said Chief Raymond Hayducka. He added, “TheSouth Brunswick community can be proud their police department achieved national recognition for exceptional police service. Pursuing the accreditation shows our continuing effort to improve our agency and the service we provide”.

CALEA has set standards, procedures and best practices that agencies are required to meet before receiving accreditation. South BrunswickPolice Department is one of only eleven New Jersey Police Departments to be nationally accredited.

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of law enforcement's major executive associations. CALEA accreditation serves as a management model and benchmark of standards for law enforcement agencies throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Barbados.
