South Brunswick Police Arrest 40-Year-Old Man After Five Teens Found Intoxicated

South Brunswick Police arrested a 40-year-old man and five juveniles after they were found to have been drinking alcohol at a residence.

On April 15, 2014 at 5:20 p.m., South Brunswick Police responded to the Brookside Mobile Home Park off Route 1 on a report of intoxicated juveniles fighting, police said.

When officers arrived they found four juveniles - ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old - standing in front of a residence with minor cuts and bruises. Police noticed all the juveniles had an odor of alcohol on their breath and appeared to be under the influence, police said.

Inside the residence, police found 40-year-old Charles Nixon heavily intoxicated with several beer cans crushed at his feet. Police found another juvenile in the residence on a couch intoxicated.

Police said they recovered several empty beer cans and a half empty bottle of Travelers Vodka.

All the juveniles and Nixon were transported to police headquarters for processing.  The juveniles were turned over to their parents. They will have to appear in family court on charges of underage consumption of alcohol.

Nixon was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and released pending his first court appearance.

Nixon faces up to three years in prison if convicted and the juveniles face loss of driver’s license privileges and probation, police said.
