Update, Nov. 7:
A Rider University student turned herself into authorities on Wednesday in connection with the hit-and-run death of a man in Ewing Township last week, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office announced today (Thursday, Nov. 3).
Laura Gallagher, 19, of Flanders, N.J., was charged with death by auto and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, both second-degree crimes, the prosecutor’s office said.
After surrendering to Ewing police and being processed Wednesday, Gallagher was lodged in the Mercer County Correction Center in Hopewell Township in lieu of $250,000 bail, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Authorities allege the vehicle being driven by Gallagher was one of two vehicles that fatally struck a 54-year-old Trenton man as he was walking across Parkside Avenue near Ives Avenue in Ewing just before 10:40 p.m. last Friday, Oct. 28.
The driver of the other vehicle is still being sought.
