Prostitution Suspect Arrested at Motel in Lawrence Twp.

The woman was taken into custody on July 12 at the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge on Route 1.

A woman from New York was charged with prostitution after she was arrested last Thursday afternoon (July 12) during another undercover investigation by Lawrence Township police.

The suspect, identified as Guiping Ji, 48, of Flushing, N.Y., was taken into custody about 2:45 p.m. Thursday after she allegedly offered an undercover officer sex for money in a room at the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge in the 2900 block of Brunswick Pike (Route 1), according to police department spokesman Lt. Mark Ubry.

Ubry said the undercover officer arranged to meet the woman at the motel after responding to a suspicious newspaper advertisement police spotted.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement assisted township police with the investigation, Ubry said.

Several similar prostitution arrests occurred in Lawrence Township at the Red Roof Inn, also on Route 1, on , , and of this year, as well as and of 2011.

I am pretty sure i saw this woman wandering into traffic on Franklin Corner Road last Friday. She was in the MIDDLE of the road near the jug handle weeping. I had a good look at her because she stopped traffic in front of me and another driver got out of their car and walked her to the side of the road. This woman was distraught and was either disoriented or looking for a way to end it.

If she wanted "out" and getting arrested was her way of doing so, then I hope she takes that opportunity to change her life. Now that I think about it, I've seen a few women walking around that vicintiy for some time now and it seem like that section of Rt 1 has become the new hot spot for drug dealing and prostitution. If that's the case, then the police dept really needs to clean house in that area b/c it's too close to homes and smaller buisnesses. The drug deals and pimps have got to go!
