Property Stolen from Seven More Unlocked Vehicles

The crimes happened between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning on Freedom Boulevard, Harmony Avenue, Slack Avenue and Princeton Pike. GPS units, loose change and other items were stolen.

Lawrence Township police are investigating the theft of property from seven vehicles that were entered sometime during the overnight hours between Tuesday evening, April 3, and Wednesday morning, April 4, police department spokesman Lt. Charles Edgar confirmed.

Police believe that all of the vehicles had been left unlocked by their owners, he said.

The crimes happened on Freedom Boulevard, Harmony Avenue, Slack Avenue and Princeton Pike.

The first vehicle break-in was reported at 2:51 a.m. Wednesday by a 40-year-old Yardley, Pa., woman who called police after she spotted the interior light on in her BMW parked along Freedom Boulevard, Edgar said.

He said an iPhone and protective case for the phone – with a combined value of about $650 – were stolen from the BMW.

Edgar said the other crimes were all reported between 6:44 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Included among them were:

  • On Harmony Avenue, the theft of a $300 GPS unit from a Nissan Altima belonging to a 48-year-old Lawrence Township man;
  • On Harmony Avenue, the theft of a GPS unit worth about $350 from a Honda Accord belonging to a 52-year-old township man;
  • On Harmony Avenue, the theft of less than $5 in loose change from a Honda Accord owned by a 36-year-old township woman;
  • On Slack Avenue, the theft of a $250 GPS until from a Volkswagen Jetta belonging to a 25-year-old woman from Lawrence Township;
  • On Slack Avenue, the theft of a baby monitor and power inverter from a Honda Pilot owned by a 41-year-old township man.

The seventh vehicle break-in took place in the 2000 block of Princeton Pike, where a 46-year-old woman reported that her four-door Infiniti had been entered and rummaged through but nothing taken, Edgar said.

Officers Michael Smith and Steve Simon are investigating the crimes. Anyone with information that could help their investigation is urged to call township police at (609) 896-1111.

Thefts from unlocked vehicles have been an in Lawrence Township. Following this most recent rash of crimes, Edgar again urged vehicle owners to lock their doors and keep valuables out of sight.
