Police Still Searching for Missing Elderly Man

A State Police helicopter, seen flying over the Darrah Lane and Glenn Avenue section of Lawrenceville last weekend, was searching for an 87-year-old man still missing since Saturday.

The Lawrence Police Department  in Lawrenceville, New Jersey is attempting to locate  Vernon F. Melville who was reported missing by his family on September 15, 2012.   Melville is a black male 87-years-old, approximately 5’ 07” tall, weighing 150 pounds.

Melville was last seen on September 15th 2012 in Lawrenceville NJ, wearing a plaid shirt, tan jacket, and a hat. Melville wears glasses and walks with a cane. He told a neighbor he was going for a walk around the block and has not returned.

Melville is believed to be carrying a wallet with identification. He does not own any vehicles. He has been known to travel by bus in the past. Melville has family in Virginia, Texas, and New Jersey. He has not attempted to contact any family members as of September 16, 2012.

Melville has a cell phone with him. A signal was received from that cell phone in the Baltimore, Maryland area on September 15, 2012. A second signal was received from Wilmington, Delaware on September 16, 2012.

Melville is on blood pressure medication and does not have his medication with him. 

He has been entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person.

Anyone who may have seen Melville is asked to call their local police department and call the Lawrence Police at (609) 896-1111.
