Police Blotter: Woman Allegedly Endangered 1-Year-Old Son

Here's a roundup of notable police activity in Lawrence Township from April 16 through April 26.

Aggravated Assault

Sheresha Monique Marks, 32, of Whitehall, Pa., was arrested on Monday, April 23, and charged with attempted aggravated assault, child endangerment and criminal mischief in connection with a crime that allegedly took place in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven convenience store on Lawrence Road (Route 206) a week earlier, according to Lawrence Township Police Department spokesman Lt. Charles Edgar.

He said Marks went to the 7-Eleven on April 17 to meet her ex-fiancé to exchange custody of their 1-year-old son. During that meeting, he said, Marks became angry and allegedly used her vehicle to ram the car occupied by her former fiancé and their child before she drove away. The man, who is a 33-year-old Lawrence Township resident, and the infant were not hurt, he said.

Hilary A. Winter, 54, of the 4500 block of Province Line Road, Lawrence Township, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after police responded to an accident in which her 1995 four-door Acura ended up in a ditch on the side of the road on Carson Road on Thursday, April 26, Edgar said.

He said police were alerted to the accident at 4:59 p.m. When officers arrived at the accident scene, they allegedly found Winter in an incoherent condition and smelling of alcohol, he said. He said she was transported by ambulance to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, and was later charged by police with four offenses, including driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Drug Possession

Brian J. Mack, 21, of Highland Lakes in Sussex County was arrested about 4 a.m. on the Rider University campus on Sunday, April 22, and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, according to Edgar. He said Mack, who is not a Rider student, was on campus visiting his girlfriend at the time of the arrest.

Edgar said Rider security received a complaint about an odor of marijuana coming from a room in the Kroner dormitory. Upon investigating, he said, campus security officers allegedly caught Mack with the marijuana and called police.

Burglary

Detective Scott Caloiaro is investigating a burglary that took place at the Headwaters Technology Innovation Group in the 1500 block of New York Avenue on Thursday, April 26, Edgar said. He said four boys between the ages of 10 and 14 allegedly jumped over a fence to get onto the property. They then allegedly got inside a building and set off a dry chemical fire extinguisher, causing workers there to panic in belief that there was a fire, he said. They four juveniles went back over the fence and fled before police arrived.

Stolen Vehicle

A 46-year-old resident of Fieldcrest Court called police at 8:34 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, to report her 2004 Range Rover had been stolen, Edgar said. He said she told police she had “loaned” the vehicle to a 50-year-old male friend but that he had failed to return it and she had neither seen nor heard from him. Information about the missing auto was entered into a law enforcement computer database for stolen vehicles nationwide.

Theft

Police are working to identify a man who fled without paying after receiving a $48 massage at the Relaxation Sensation business at Lawrence Shopping Center in the 2400 block of Brunswick Pike, Edgar said. He said employees reported the crime at 9:38 p.m. on Thursday, April 26. The man was described only as being white and between 30 and 40 years old.

Criminal Mischief

At 11:02 p.m. on Monday, April 16, a 45-year-old resident of Eric Court called police to report that an unknown person had used an unknown object to smash one of the windows of his residence. The man told police he discovered the damage after hearing a “loud noise,” Edgar said, noting that damage to the oval-shaped window was estimated at $500.

Criminal Mischief

A 28-year-old Lawrence Township resident who was visiting a friend on Bramble Court called police at 11:05 p.m. on Monday, April 16, after he discovered that someone had “keyed” his car, Edgar said. He said damage to the 2010 Subaru Impreza from the scratches was estimated at $600.

Fraud

Detective Kevin Reading Jr. is working to identify a woman, described as being 20 to 25 years old, who unsuccessfully tried to withdraw $2,000 from the bank account of an elderly woman, Edgar said. He said the woman went to the drive-thru window of the Sovereign Bank branch on Franklin Corner Road and submitted a withdrawal slip containing the elderly victim’s account information about 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17.

The bank teller became suspicious and asked the woman to move out of the drive-thru lane and park her vehicle in a space while the transaction was completed. The teller called police but the woman had driven away by the time an officer arrived. A detailed description of the woman was not available.

Theft

At 5:22 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, an 11-year-old boy reported to police that someone had stolen his $700 BMX bicycle after he left it unattended outside one of the buildings on Fountayne Lane. Police searched the neighborhood and located the bike, Edgar said. He said police have identified a possible suspect in the theft but are still investigating.

Criminal Mischief

The mailbox of a home in the 300 block of Eggerts Crossing Road was knocked off its post with a baseball bat or stick-like object sometime between 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, and 6 a.m. on Friday, April 20, Edgar said. He said the 55-year-old homeowner reported the crime at 6:22 a.m. on April 20.

Thefts

Two vehicles were broken into after their owners left them to be serviced at the AAMCO Transmissions shop in the 1700 block of Princeton Avenue. The crimes were reported at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 21. The vehicles were a 2003 Nissan Murano belonging to a 27-year-old North Brunswick man and a 1998 Dodge truck owned by a 41-year-old man from Hamilton Township, according to Edgar. Windows were broken out on both vehicles, he said. The radio was stolen from the Dodge, however nothing was taken from the Nissan, he said.

Theft

An 80-year-old woman from Hopewell Township called police at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, to report that someone stole her purse from her shopping cart while she inside the TJ Maxx store at Mercer Mall in the 3300 block of Brunswick Pike (Route 1), Edgar said. He said the purse contained about $180 in cash, assorted credit cards, keys and other items.

Theft

At 5:59 p.m. Saturday, April 21, a 21-year-old resident of Robbinsville Township notified police that the front passenger’s side window of her 2004 Honda Civic had been smashed out and a bag containing makeup stolen, Edgar said. He said the crime happened in the parking lot of Quaker Bridge Mall in the 3300 block of Brunswick Pike (Route 1) sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. while the woman was at work inside the mall.

At 11:42 a.m. on Sunday, April 22, a 44-year-old resident of Fountayne Lane called police to report that while she was shopping at the ShopRite supermarket in Mercer Mall someone stole a $77 bottle of prescription medicine – Percocet – from her purse, Edgar said.

Theft

A black-and-gold dirt bike belonging to a 14-year-old resident of Valley Forge Avenue was stolen from outside Knapp’s Cyclery in the 1700 block of Princeton Avenue on Monday, April 23, Edgar said. He said the crime was reported at 4:20 p.m. The boy told police the bike – valued at $380 – was taken while he was inside the bicycle shop for about 10 minutes.

Theft

A laptop computer valued at $1,500 was stolen from a 2008 Pontiac Grand Am that was left unlocked in the parking lot of Gold’s Gym in the 4100 block of Quakerbridge Road. Edgar said the victim, a 37-year-old Lawrence Township resident, reported the theft at 9:33 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, and believed it happened sometime between 7:15 and 8 that morning.

Theft

At 2:54 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, police were notified that four aluminum downspouts had been stolen and several exterior light covers broken at an unoccupied building in the 1000 block of Spruce Street, Edgar said. Evidence of illegal dumping was also found, he said.

Criminal Mischief

The driver’s side of a 2011 Ford Escape was “keyed” sometime between 5 a.m. and 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, while it was parked on Nathan Hale Avenue. The owner, a 48-year-old woman, reported the crime at 7:24 p.m., Edgar said.
