Police Blotter: Search for Runaway Leads to Drug Arrest

Here's a roundup of notable police activity in Lawrence Township from July 11 through July 16.

Drug Offense

Jonathan Johnson Jr., a 21-year-old resident of Elmer Street in Trenton, was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and providing alcohol to a minor after he was arrested about 2:45 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at the Red Roof Inn in the 3200 block of Brunswick Pike (Route 1), according to Lawrence Township police spokesman Lt. Mark Ubry.

Police went to the motel in search of a township teenager who had run away from home and been reported missing by her family, Ubry said. When the girl was found, he said, she was in the company of Johnson. He said Johnson was taken into custody by Detective David Burns and the girl was reunited with her family.

Drug Offense

A 17-year-old Lawrence Township boy was arrested about 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana with intent to distribute, according to Ubry.

Detective David Burns was investigating another matter in the Lawrence Square Village complex when he spotted the boy allegedly driving a vehicle on O’Neill Court in an erratic manner. Burns initiated a routine traffic stop and discovered that the teen allegedly had marijuana in the vehicle, Ubry said.

Drug Offense

William Hilton, 32, of Rutledge Avenue, Ewing, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and motor vehicle offenses after he was arrested during a routine traffic stop that took place about 1:05 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, Ubry said.

Officer Joseph Radlinsky initiated the stop after witnessing Hilton allegedly turn his vehicle into Mount’s Motel in the 2900 block of Brunswick Pike (Route 1) without signaling the turn, Ubry said. During the stop, he said, Radlinsky learned that Hilton’s driver’s license had been suspended. Further investigation led to the discovery of an alleged crack pipe, he said.

A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Alan Moore Jr., 34, of Bradley Court, South Brunswick, was also taken into custody because he was found to be wanted in connection with outstanding warrants from Trenton and Hamilton, Ubry said.

Theft

Sometime between 1 a.m. and about 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 16, more than $3,000 worth of property – including cash, glasses, small electronics and clothing – was reportedly stolen from two vehicles parked outside a home on Ketterer Court, Ubry said, noting that the owner told police he could not remember if he had locked the vehicles. There was no evidence of forced entry or visible damage found to the exteriors of the vehicles, a Mustang and a Mitsubishi. Officer Thomas Everist is investigating.

Criminal Mischief

At 10:53 a.m. on Monday, July 16, an employee of Enfotech & Consulting Inc. on Princess Road called police to report that he had discovered that someone had broken out the front passenger’s side window of his 1996 Audi A6 sometime over the weekend, Ubry said. He said the Levittown, Pa., resident told police he had left the vehicle parked at the business on Saturday, July 14. Nothing was missing from the interior of the auto. Damage was estimated at $200. Officer Andres Mejia is investigating.
