Police Blotter: Robbery, Prostitution, Drug Arrests Made

Here's a roundup of notable police activity in Lawrence Township from June 21 through July 10.

Burglary

At 7:26 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, residents of the 2600 block of Brunswick Pike (Business Route 1) called police to report they had just returned home to find that someone had broken into their residence and stolen over $2,000 worth of cash and property, including a television and jewelry, Lawrence Township police spokesman Lt. Mark Ubry said.

He said the burglar(s) gained entry by smashing a window adjacent to the home’s front door. The break-in took place sometime during the preceding 24 hours while the residents were away from the home, he said.

Burglary

A Honda CR80 motorcycle and a Yamaha all-terrain vehicle – with a combined value of about $3,000 – were stolen from a shed of a property in the 2100 block of Princeton Pike sometime between 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, and about 6 a.m. on Monday, June 25, Ubry said. He said someone broke into the shed by removing a window screen.

Ubry said the lock on a utility trailer on the same property was also cut away, but nothing appeared to have been taken from the trailer. Three bicycles believed to have been used by the burglars were found abandoned nearby, he said.

Detective William Chester is investigating, he said.

Robbery

Donna Majeski, 32, of Trenton was arrested on July 6 by Detective Todd Caruso and charged with robbery and theft in connection with an incident that allegedly took place at Quaker Bridge Mall a few days earlier, Ubry said.

While inside the J.C. Penney department store at the mall about 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, Majeski allegedly concealed about $400 worth of merchandise in a bag she was carrying and then left the store without paying, Ubry said.

Ubry said a store loss prevention personnel followed Majeski into the parking lot and caught up with her as she was getting into a vehicle. Majeski allegedly hit and shoved the store employee – causing a minor wrist injury to the female security guard – and fled the scene in the vehicle, he said.

She was identified as a suspect and later located by Caruso, Ubry said, noting that the alleged use of force by Majeski during her getaway elevated the crime from a shoplifting to a robbery.

Xi Yan Hui, 30, of Flushing, N.Y., was arrested about 4:25 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, at the Red Roof Inn in the 3200 block of Brunswick Pike (Route 1) and charged with prostitution, Ubry said.

Ubry said an undercover officer met the woman at the motel after responding to a suspicious advertisement police discovered online. During that meeting, the woman allegedly offered the undercover officer sex for money, at which time she was taken into custody, he said.
