Police Arrest Man Who Allegedly Grabbed Woman

A 21-year-old Lawrence Township man who allegedly grabbed a woman in an "inappropriate" way as she waited at a bus stop has been charged with criminal sexual contact.

A man who allegedly grabbed a woman in an “inappropriate” way as she waited at a bus stop earlier this week was arrested this morning, Friday, Dec. 16, according to Lt. Mark Ubry, a Lawrence Township police spokesman.

The suspect, 21-year-old Lawrence Township resident Michael Bynum, was charged with criminal sexual contact, Ubry said.

The alleged crime took place early on Thursday morning, Dec. 15.

The victim, a 36-year-old Lawrence Township resident, called police at 5:38 a.m. to report that she had just been assaulted while she was waiting to catch a bus at a NJ Transit bus stop located on Lawrence Road (Route 206) near Princeton Avenue.

The woman told police that a man walking behind her “grabbed her with his hand inappropriately,” Ubry said.

Police officers searched the area but could not immediately locate the man. But Detective Todd Caruso, assigned to investigate the crime, was able to identify the suspect as Bynum, Ubry said.

He said police located Bynum this morning and took him into custody.
