Missing Lawrence Man Recently Suffered Head Injury

Update, Jan. 18: Andrew Channin is no longer missing, according to Lawrence Township police. While Lawrence Township police did not have specific details about the incident, they confirmed that Channin was arrested in Salisbury, Pa., late Jan. 16 or early Jan. 17.

Lawrence Township police are investigating the disappearance of a 24-year-old township man who was last seen by friends on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Andrew Channin spent Friday night with friends in Jersey City and was last seen about 11 a.m. Saturday at his friends’ apartment building there, according to Lawrence Township Police Department spokesman Lt. Charles Edgar.

Channin went outside ahead of his friends; they told police they expected to find him waiting by their vehicle so they could drive him back to Lawrence Township, but he was nowhere to be found when they got outside, Edgar said.

Edgar said the friends looked around for Channin and, after being unable to locate him, thought he might have found another way home. After Channin failed to turn up at home, he said, Channin’s family and friends reported him missing to Lawrence Township police about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Edgar said Channin’s loved ones are concerned for him because “he recently sustained a head injury and hasn’t been acting quite himself.”

He said township police were told that Channin suffered the head injury when he was assaulted in Trenton but specific details of that assault were not immediately available.

Channin is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, and has brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black coat, black hat and blue jeans.
