Missing in Lawrence: Wedding Ring, Air Conditioner Coils, Nissan Altima

Police are investigating the incidents.

A series of thefts around Lawrence last week included $200,000 worth of air conditioner cooling coils, plus a wedding ring, engagement ring and a car. 

  • On Friday Oct. 18, a man at Gold's Gym reported that someone broke into his gym locker. He told police that he leaves a sticker on the back of his lock with the combination and when he returned to his locker, the sticker was gone. Gym staff opened the locker with bolt cutters, and the man reported that his wedding ring and $500 worth of other items, including his wallet, had been stolen. 
  • Also on Friday resident reported that she went to Kay Jewelers to size both her husband's wedding band and her engagement ring. She used the store's ring sizer and after she left the mall, she discovered she never put her ring back on her finger. When she returned the store, the ring, valued at $2,000, was gone. 
  • On Monday, Oct. 21, a theft was reported at Auro Health, specifically a dozen rooftop air conditioning cooling coils valued at approximately $200,000. It's believed the coils were taken between Oct. 16 and Oct. 21. 
  • Also on Monday, an Irwin Place resident reported that after he went to the bed the night before, he heard a noise and woke up. He found the back door unlocked and his car keys missing from the counter. His 2009 Nissan Altima, valued at $10,000, was gone.
