Mercer Sheriff: More Than 300 lbs of Prescription Drugs Turned In & Off the Streets

The national Prescription Drug Take-Back Day was held on Oct. 26.

Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announced the his Prescription Drug Take-Back Day that Mercer County held  on Oct. 26 in Trenton. 

County residents turned in a total of 313 pounds of unused/ expired prescriptions drugs for safe disposal. The national program is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. 

“By disposing of unused prescription drugs from our medicine cabinets and drawers, we can prevent experimenting, theft, and chronic addictions. This unique take-back program protects our families and the local community from prescription drug abuse,” Kemler said.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while creating awareness to the potential abuse of medications.
