Lawrence Woman Hurt in Cherry Valley Road Accident

Police said another driver from Princeton caused the accident when she lost control of her vehicle while driving on wet pavement around a sharp curve.

A 26-year-old Lawrence Township woman was taken by ambulance to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro with an ankle injury, cuts and bruises on Thursday evening after her vehicle was struck head-on by another car that lost control on a curve along Cherry Valley Road, according to Montgomery Township Police. 

The accident, , happened at 6:12 p.m. near the intersection of Heather Lane just across the Princeton/Montgomery border.

Jordan Collins, 19, of Princeton was driving a 1998 BMW west on Cherry Valley Road when she lost control of her vehicle on wet pavement at the Raymond Curve, crossed over the double yellow lines and sideswiped a 2006 Lexus traveling east driven by Kuang Chuan Cheng, 52, of Montgomery, according to police.

Collins' vehicle, still out of control, veered back into its own lane, then into oncoming traffic again. She crashed head-on into a 1998 Pontiac driven by Katelyn McCormack, 26, of Lawrence. 

Local firefighters were busy battling two structure fires in Princeton, so firefighters from West Windsor Township's Princeton Junction Fire Co. responded to the accident and extrciated McCormack from the wreckage of her car.

Police said Jordan Collins received a summons for failing to maintain a lane. All three vehicles were towed from the scene. 

Cherry Valley Road was closed for about 90 between Great Road and Province Line Road during the accident investigation. Police said Collins is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Township Municipal Court.

In addition to Princeton Junction firefighters, Montgomery Township police, Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad, and Princeton Township police responded to the scene.
