He said one of the wheel wells of the trailer struck Longo’s bike, causing her to lose control and crash.

Longo – a township police officer since 2001 – suffered injuries to her ribs, as well as numerous “scrapes and bruises” all over her body, Edgar said. He said she was transported by ambulance to the regional trauma unit at Capital Health System Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

She has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at her home in the township, he said.

The pickup’s driver, Vicente I. Osorio-Sosa, 45, of Birch Avenue in Princeton Township, was charged by police with careless driving and with operating an unregistered vehicle, Edgar said.

Because it was unregistered, the pickup was towed from the scene, he added.
