Police Explain New Automated Phone Greeting System

The new automated system involves Lawrence Township Police Department's non-emergency phone number, (609) 896-1111. Those with an emergency to report should still call 911 to immediately speak to a dispatcher.

Editor's Note: The following news release was issued by Lawrence Township Police Department concerning the department's new automated phone greeting system.

The Lawrence Township Police Department has recently switched to an automated call attendant system to improve services of the police department.

When calling the main number at (609) 896-1111, your call will be greeted by a call attendant who will direct you to a specific bureau such as administration, firearms applications, investigative division, records, traffic safety and property.

If you need to speak to a communication dispatcher, press 0 and the call will be transferred to a communications operator.  There is also a directory by officer’s last name if you need to contact a specific officer. 

If you have an emergency, please call 911.

The Lawrence Township Police Department continues to allow victims to report nonviolent petty crimes online to the police without waiting for an officer to come to the residence or having to come to the police station. 

These crimes are very minor and have no viable suspects.  They include, Harassment, Late Motor Vehicle Accidents, Theft from Auto, Identity Theft, Theft, Vehicle Tampering, Lost Property, Criminal Mischief and Property Damage.
