Lawrence Man Chases Down Thieves who Stole his Truck

The Rydal Drive resident heard someone driving off in his car, chased after them and got his car back.

Police don't recommend you chase down car thieves, but one Lawrence resident did just that early Wednesday morning- and got his vehicle back.

It happened at 4:50 a.m. when a Rydal Drive resident spotted someone starting his Chevy Avalanche in the driveway and taking off, according to Lawrence Township Police.

The resident told police he jumped into his other car and went looking for the thieves. He found the vehicle on Stout Avenue in Ewing. That's when he used his own car to block the Avalanche in and started yelling at the men inside.

Two men jumped out of the Avalanche and ran, police said.

The man drove to the gas station and called his wife, and the couple drove both vehicles home.

Police were notified only after the couple returned home with both cars.

Police discovered latent prints in the Avalanche, which will be sent to the New Jersey State Police for a potential match.
