Lawrence Man Charged With Multiple Drug Offenses

The alleged incident happened shortly before 8 p.m. on July 18.

A Lawrence man faces multiple drug charges after police say he fled from officers, resisted arrest and a search turned up drugs, a hypodermic needle and drug paraphernalia. 

Sedrick Bailey, 28, was charged with obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle. 

According to Lawrence Township Police, Bailey was seen walking on Princeton Avenue and then getting into a vehicle that stopped for him. When officers stopped the vehicle for a violation, Bailey allegedly jumped out and ran, despite officers asking him to stop.

Bailey then ran into a nearby home and started to open the door, but officers caught up with him and took him into custody. Bailey allegedly resisted being handcuffed. A subsequent search of his person turned up drugs, a hypodermic needle and empty packets of heroin, police said. 

Bailey was released on $11,500 bail with 10 percent down.
