Lawrence Fire Crews Aid at Ewing Warehouse Blaze

The blaze Thursday night forced police to close both sides of North Olden Avenue for hours.

Volunteer firefighters from all three Lawrence Township fire companies - Slackwood, Lawrence Road and Lawrenceville - sent crews into Ewing Township Thursday night (Sept. 29) to help battle a smoky blaze in a warehouse filled with old furniture and rubbish.

Reported at 8:16 p.m., the blaze in the 1600 block of North Olden Avenue was not declared under control until 10:01 p.m.

In addition to the Lawrence firefighters, on scene were crews from Ewing Township's Prospect Heights, Pennington Road and West Trenton fire companies, and Hamilton Township's Hamilton and White Horse fire companies.

Emergency medical personnel from Ewing, Lawrence and Princeton were also on scene. The cause of the blaze was being investigated by Ewing authorities and the Mercer County Fire Marshal's Office.
