The man was rushed to the hospital in Trenton. At some point, rescuers managed to get his heart working again and get him breathing once more, officials said.

Police established a crime scene and cordoned off a large area of Wayside Lane with yellow tape that read – in both English and Spanish – “POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS.”

The man’s shoes sat in the road next to an oxygen tank and other medical equipment that had been used by rescuers.

A fire engine from Lawrence Road Volunteer Fire Co. provided lighting as police investigated, photographed the overall scene and used flashlights to look into cars parked nearby.
