Gas Line Struck on Edinburg Road

At least 10 homes on Edinburg Road had to be evacuated yesterday.

HAMILTON — At least 10 homes were evacuated yesterday afternoon when a plumbing company struck a gas line on Edinburg Road.

Capt. Jason Ryan of the Mercerville Fire Company was unsure of the plumbing company's name or if it had a permit to operate the backhoe that caused the gas line rupture.

Ryan reported that public service was still working to fix the leak in the 2 inch gas line when his company left the scene around 4 p.m.
