Careless Driving Ticket Issued in Rush-Hour Collision
The rear-end, chain-reaction crash involved three autos on Route 1 in Lawrence Township Tuesday.
The driver of one of the three vehicles involved in a rear-end, chain-reaction collision during the afternoon commuter rush Tuesday (Aug. 16) has been issued a careless driving ticket, Lawrence Township police confirmed.
The accident occurred about 4:25 p.m. Tuesday in the northbound lanes of Brunswick Pike (Route 1), just north of where Business Route 1 and the Trenton Freeway portion of Route 1 come together.
Police said the following were involved in the accident:

- a 2007 Chvrolet Cobalt driven by Fayza Siddiqui, 25, of Astor Lane, Franklin Park;
- a 2003 Nissan Sentra driven by Rachel Walegir, 31, of Hughes Drive, Hamilton;
- and a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Amber L. Ibbetson, 23, of Croydon, Pa.
An ambulance was called to the scene to check on the drivers, but police said none of their injuries was deemed to be serious.

Police said Siddiqui was cited for careless driving.
Northbound traffic on both Business Route 1 and the Route 1 Trenton Freeway quickly backed up as police were forced to shut all but the left-most northbound lane of the merged highway until the wrecked vehicles were cleared away.
