Assault, Robbery at Red Roof Inn Under Investigation

Lawrence Township police said the crime happened about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the motel on Route 1.

A Burlington County man was assaulted and robbed at a Lawrence Township motel this afternoon, township police confirmed.

The crime occurred about 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn in the 3200 block of Route 1 (Brunswick Pike).

The victim, a 25-year-old Bordentown resident, told police he was grabbed by two men he did not know who beat him and stole his wallet and car keys, according to Detective Sgt. Joseph Amodio.

The wallet contained a yet-to-be-determined amount of cash, he said, adding that no weapons were ever seen by the victim.

Police were called to the motel after an employee reported seeing the victim, bruised and bloodied, in the parking lot.

The victim was transported by Lawrence Township ambulance to Capital Health System’s hospital in Hopewell Township to be treated for his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening, Amodio said.

He said the victim was not able to provide police with detailed descriptions of his attackers.

He said the motive for the crime remains under investigation by Detective William Chester and Officer Lauren Laux.

Anyone with information that could aid the investigation is asked to call police at (609) 896-1111.

This motel and the others along Rt 1 are a hot bed for crime, especially prositution. The police need to do more than just do a drive by once in a while because there are others who live in the area that are increasingly feeling unsafe. The motels along with the police need to work together to crack down on crime, it's not good for buisness nor is it safe for the residents who have to live in the surrounding areas....
