Obituary: Paul W. O’Neil Jr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church.

Paul W. O’Neil Jr., 82, died peacefully, surrounded by loving family after a short illness on Saturday, March 2, at the home of his son Michael.

Paul was born in Newark, N.J., and graduated from Trenton Catholic High School. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Lipan ATF 85, a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the Bell Telephone Company.

Paul was a resident of Lawrence Township until relocating to Waretown, N.J. to live by his beloved Barnegat Bay. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many years captaining his boat, the “Miss Dorothy”, on the ocean and bay. He was a member of the Lawrence and Lacey Township Elks, American Legion Post 414, and the Whitehead Veterans Club.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy A. O’Neil.

He leaves his three sons and daughters in-law, Paul D. and Barbara O’Neil of Shippenville, Pa., Michael P. and Sandy O’Neil of Lawrence Township and Tom W. and Lori O’Neil of Titusville, N.J.; four grandchildren, Paul Ryan O’Neil, Kelly O’Neil Siegel (Travis), Michael P. O’Neil, Jr., and William C. O’Neil; and a great granddaughter, Noelle Katherine Siegel.

He also leaves his sister in-law and brother in-law, Bobbie and Harry Gladney; his special friend, Ginny Horner; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Paul will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service in celebration of Paul’s life will be held Saturday, March 9, 11:00 am at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, 1039 Lawrence Rd., Lawrenceville, N.J. 08648.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s name may be made to Restoretheshore.com, njreefrescue.org, Save Barnegat Bay, 906-B Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, N.J. 08735, or your favorite charity.
