Obituary: Nicholas (Nick) King, 42

Nicholas (Nick) King, 42, passed away at home on Sunday, March 24, after a two year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.

He was born and grew up in Bristol, England, where his good looks, intelligence and fun-loving nature gained him a wife, a PhD, and many friends.

In 2001 he moved to San Jose, California, and subsequently to Lawrence Township, N.J., in 2002.

He worked for JDSU as an optical engineer, designing amplifiers for the telecom industry. He gained several patents during his career. He was a great problem solver, very resourceful, and could turn his hand to almost anything. He could never sit still and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He seemed to bring sunshine wherever he went.

He was a member of Nassau Christian Center in Princeton, where he served on the board of deacons and assumed the role ‘Commander Nick’ every Wednesday at the church’s Royal Ranger boys program. He was praising the Lord until the end, and now he gets to run and laugh (and joke around) in the presence of the Lord forever!

He enjoyed the outdoors, but mostly he loved taking care of his family, which he did exceedingly well. He was a wonderful and loving son to his parents, Angela and Bob, and brother to Samantha Mitchell. His wife, Marianne King, and his sons Albert, Jeremiah and Samson, will miss him dearly, as will a host of other family and friends whose lives he touched.

A service to celebrate Nick’s life will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, at Nassau Christian Center, 26 Nassau St., Princeton, N.J. 08542. All are welcome.
