Obituary: Josephine Dolores Gioia, 95

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18.

Josephine Dolores Gioia of Lawrence Township passed away on Tuesday, March 12, at Chandler Hall, Newtown, Pa.

Born Sept. 13, 1917, in New York City, she was a resident of Lawrence for 52 years. Josephine was a graduate of the School of Designing and Dress Making. She later retired as a self-employed seamstress after 50 years of service.

Josephine was a parishioner at the Church of St. Ann in Lawrence. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Daughter of the late Frank and Marianna Rinaldi, sister of the late Rudy, John and Rosario Rinaldi, and Ann Potenza, she is survived by her husband Vito Gioia; her son and daughter-in-law Jack and Patricia Gioia; her daughter-in-law Mary Jane Gioia; her granddaughters Lori Gioia and Kim Baxter and husband Will; numerous and wonderful nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; her dear friends Gina and Antoinette; and all her special friends from Dotty Ann’s Beauty Salon.

The family would also like to offer a special thank you to Cheryl, Diane and Kathy of V.N.A. of Mercer County for their kindness and care to Josephine.

Funeral services for Josephine will be held on Monday, March 18, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd., Lawrence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Ann, Lawrence. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, March 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
