Obituary: Helen M. Alito, 89

Former Lawrence Township resident spent 47 years working for the Trenton Board of Education.

Helen M. Alito, 89, of Pennington passed away Sunday, March 4, at the Brandywine Assisted Living, Pennington.

Born in Trenton, she had resided in Lawrence and Hamilton townships before moving to Pennington. Miss Alito graduated from Trenton Central High School and attended Heimbach’s Business School and Rider College.

She was an employee of the Trenton Board of Education for a total of 47 years as a school secretary at Junior High School Number Four and then as a confidential executive secretary at the Trenton Schools Administration Building.

Daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Albano Alito and sister of the late Jean A. Alito, Samuel A. Alito and Anthony A. Alito, she is survived by nieces, nephews, their spouses and children: Nancy Alito and husband Eric Greener and great niece Kelsey; Richard Alito and wife Emily; Joan Alito and great nephew Alessandro; David Alito and wife Tamara and great nephew Nicholas and great niece Juliana; Janice Alito and husband Michael Scott; Rosemary Alito; Samuel A. Alito Jr.and  and wife Martha Ann and great nephew Phillip and great niece Laura. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Margaret Alito and Rose Alito.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Rd., Pennington. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
