Obituary: Edward H. Doan Sr., 72

Life-long Lawrence Township resident served as a volunteer firefighter with Lawrenceville Fire Co.

Edward H. Doan Sr., 72, of Lawrence Township, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 1, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lawrence Township, he was a life-long Lawrence Township resident. He owned Eddie's Auto Body and Towing in Hamilton Township for the past 25 years. He was a life member of the . as a volunteer firefighter.

He enjoyed seasonal deer hunting and was a New York Giants football fan. In his younger years Ed was a stock care race driver most frequently at the Flemington Speedway, and he was a dedicated NASCAR race fan enthusiast.

Son of the late George W. Jr. and Dorothy G. Applegate Doan, brother of the late George W. Doan Jr., Robert Doan III, Gloria M. Johnson and Grace Lewis,
he is survived by his loving wife, Helen M. Novatkoski Doan of Lawrence Township; his four sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward H. Jr. and Denise L. Doan of Hamilton Township, Kevin R. Doan and companion Luann Burd of Naples, Fla., Christopher P. Doan and fiancee Beth Hendrickson of Lawrence Township, Gregory M. Doan and Erin P. Karre-Doan of Hamilton Township; his daughter, Jennifer L. Doan of Lawrence Township; five grandchildren, Joshua E. Doan, Zachary M. Doan, Tiffany L. Doan, Colin M. Doan and Abigail I. Doan; his sister, Gail Duvin of Lawrence Township; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale T. and Jackie Doan of Salisbury, N.C., and Gary R. and Isabella Doan of Hamilton Township; as well as many nieces, nephews, and his pet Escopom, Sophie.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Winowicz Funeral Chapel, 865 Brunswick Ave., Trenton, with the Rev. Fr. Santhosh George of Incarnation Church officiating.

Interment will be private for the family. Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (time of service) at the funeral home with a fireman's service at 11:30 a.m.
