Obituary: Cesar Rogelio Ortiz, 50

Victim of fatal sewer pipe accident will be laid to rest on Friday from The Church of Saint Ann in Lawrence Township, with calling hours tonight (Thursday) at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home in Hopewell Township.

Cesar Rogelio Ortiz, 50, of Lawrence Township, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, due to a .

Cesar was born in New York, N.Y., on April 24, 1961, to Manuel Ortiz MD and Celia Maria Torrado, deceased.

Cesar was a successful entrepreneur and businessman and co-owner and founder of several businesses in the area most specifically Lawrence Landscapes Inc. in 1980. The firm operated as a retail store for 18 years and a design and build firm for 31 years. His motto was “good enough is not good enough” and he lived his life by this, and it showed in everything he did.

He was a professional landscape architect and designer; and a former member of the New Jersey Landscape Association.

He enjoyed many hobbies such boating, collecting antique cars, gardening and photography.

Cesar Ortiz, a devoted and loving father, is survived by his son Marcos Ortiz and his wife Maryann of 11 years. Cesar, Maryann and Marcos have always resided in Lawrence.

Cesar was a dedicated and loving brother and son. He is survived by his brother Manuel, his sister Carmen and their spouses Mary and Jim. He was also a loving uncle to MJ Ortiz and his wife Stephanie, and Brian Penabad. He is survived by his mother-in-law Ginny Forcina and his sisters-in-law Carolyn and Lori.

Cesar is also survived by many cousins and numerous friends. We will truly miss him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 2 , at11:30 a.m. at , 1253 Lawrence Rd. in Lawrence Township. Interment will follow in the Ewing Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Rd., Hopewell Township.
