Obituary: Carmen P. Piazza, 93

The World War II veteran and longtime Lawrence Township resident will be laid to rest on Thursday.

Carmen P. Piazza, 93, of Lawrence Township passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, at his home.

Born in Trenton, he was a Lawrence resident most of his life.

He was a World War II veteran having served in the Marine Corps and a member of the Marine Corps League-Trenton Detachment 207.

Carmen was the owner and baker at Bakefair Bakery in Ewing before his retirement in 1982.

He was a longtime respected member of the Lawrence Township Lions, the American Legion Post 458 in Trenton, and a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 3756 in Ewing.

Son of the late Roberto and Anna Palermo Piazza, he is survived by his wife, Mary Ceranko Piazza; his two daughters, Ann “Cookie” Hill, and Camellia Nedza; his four grandchildren, Debi Berger, William and Bradley Hill, and Suzie Lucarelli; five great grandchildren; his two brothers, Ronald and Samuel Piazza; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his brothers, Vincent, Robert, Joseph, and Albert, and his sisters, Catherine, Sally, Lorraine, Nina, and Rose Marie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Thursday, Jan. 3, at The Church of St. Ann, Lawrence Township. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Hamilton.

Friends and family may call on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd., Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Carmen’s name to the Lawrence Township Lions, PO Box 6192, Lawrenceville, N.J. 08648.
