Obituary: Alyce F. Barnes, 92

A resident of Lawrence Township since 1965, she will be laid to rest on Friday, Nov. 9.

Alyce F. Barnes, 92, of Lawrence Township died on Monday, Nov. 5, at St. Joseph's/Morris Hall in Lawrence.

Born in Fall River, Mass., and a former resident of Kingston, N.J., she had lived in Lawrence since 1965.

A 1943 graduate of Pembroke College at Brown University, Mrs. Barnes became a registered nurse, and served as such in WWII before spending a long career in the area as an RN in private duty and at Merwick at Princeton Hospital.

In her later years, she enjoyed traveling internationally with her siblings, and was an active member of the Lawrence Senior Center and the Polish National Catholic Church in Lawrence Township.

Daughter of the later Walter and Sewerya Faryniarz, wife of the late William Barnes, and sister of the late Mildred, Josephine, Stephanie, Stephen, Stanley and Edward Faryniarz, Mrs. Barnes is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Mary Kate Barnes; her grandchildren, Emma, Kelley and Meg; and her brother Theodore Faryniarz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of our Savior Parish, 2300 Princeton Pike in Lawrence Township on Friday Nov. 9. at 11 a.m.

Family and friends are welcome to attend. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Princeton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Rd., Pennington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alyce's memory to one's favorite charity.
