Community Foundation Receives $10,000 Donation

The donation to Lawrence Township Community Foundation was made by The Lawrenceville School.

The Lawrenceville School has made a $10,000 donation to the Lawrence Township Community Foundation. The foundation supports non-profit groups serving the needs of Lawrence Township, N.J., principally through cash grants contributed by its sponsors.

Grant recipients serve a diverse group of organizations serving the township, and in 2011 included English School at Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, Hearts to Hearts/Project Freedom, Lawrence Meals on Wheels, National Alliance on Mental Illness-Mercer, People and Stories/Gente y Cuentos, Prevention Education Inc., Sustainable Lawrence, Volunteer Connect, and both Lawrenceville Main Street and the Lawrenceville Main Street Artists Network.
 
"For more than a decade, the Lawrence Township Community Foundation has enabled local non-profits to continue their good work serving the needs of our town," said LTCF President Jori Fahrenfeld. "This donation from the Lawrenceville School will help us help to continue our support of those efforts."
 
Lawrenceville School Head Master Liz Duffy said, "We are pleased to underwrite the Foundation's great efforts to support nonprofit organizations that provide essential services in Lawrence Township."
 
For nearly two centuries, the school and the Township of Lawrence have enjoyed a mutually beneficial community partnership. The school provides support to a number of township-based organizations, including the Lawrence Township Education Foundation, Lawrenceville Main Street, and Sustainable Lawrence. It also owns and maintains Weeden Park and the Community Gardens. Lawrenceville students volunteer more than 13,000 hours of service to the community annually and are involved in a host of fundraising projects, currently a drive to collect and donate 10,000 cans of food to local food banks.
