Ninth Annual Big Red Race to Benefit Local Children

Register today for the ninth annual Lawrenceville School Big Red Race, happening on Sunday, May 6 on the school's campus (2500 Main St.).

The Race benefits the Lawrenceville School Camp (a residential summer camp for underprivileged youth that has been in operation for more than a century) and local non-profits fighting hunger.

The starting gun for the adult five-kilometer course will fire at 10:15 a.m., rain or shine. Races, ranging from 25 meters to a half mile, will be available for kids (ages 3-11) starting at 9:00 a.m.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register by April 30 to receive a 2012 Big Red Race t-shirt. There is a $20 non-refundable entry fee for adults ($25 on Race day) and $10 for high school students and younger ($15 on Race day).

All racers and spectators are encouraged to bring cans of non-perishable food for the School's Big Red Race Food Drive, which will be given to community agencies fighting hunger in the Lawrence Township area.

A food donation will also serve in lieu of a $5 entry fee for runners under age 12, each of whom will receive a finisher's medal and a t-shirt.

Forget to bring your canned goods on Race Day? No worry - food bags will be available for donation purchase. Tickets for the Big Red Raffle will also be on sale.
