Only 30 Votes Separate Kownacki, Ramos- Final Tally Expected by Friday

With only 30 votes separating Lawrence Council incumbent Democrat James S. Kownacki and Republican hopeful Max Ramos according to Lawrence Township unofficial vote tallies, the final winner will be determined by the results of provisional and mail-in ballots, according to the Lawrence Township Clerk's Office.

The final tally is expected to be announced by the Mercer County Board of Elections on Friday.

Four candidates were vying for two seats on Council: Democratic incumbents Kownacki and Stephen Brame and Republican challengers Ramos and Glenn Collins

Brame will keep his seat with 4,348 votes. Collins received the lowest vote count, 4,196 votes.

The race for the second seat is now between Kownacki (whose unofficial vote count is 4,266) and Ramos (whose unofficial vote count is 4,236 votes).

Republican challengers Glenn Collins and Ramos ran together on a platform of fiscal responsibility and an end to what they call a "garbage tax."
