Veterans Job Fair to Be Held Thursday at Rutgers
The GI Go Fund and Rutgers Veterans Services will hold the job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A major job fair for veterans will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Thursday, June 14, at the Rutgers University Student Center, 126 College Ave. in New Brunswick.
Hosted by the Newark-based GI Go Fund and Rutgers Veterans Services, the event will feature over 50 businesses and organizations tabling about employment opportunities, including Johnson & Johnson, Prudential, PNC Bank, SetFocus, Cablevision, the FBI, the New Jersey State Police, and the Pennsylvania State Police, according to a press release from the GI Go Fund.
Several colleges and universities will also be on site with information for veterans wishing to earn a degree using their Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits, the release said.

"Veterans are currently facing an unemployment rate of 12.7 (percent), far higher than the national average for civilians. In addition, among 18- to 24-year-old veterans, nearly one in four were out of work," the release said.
"Despite these alarming statistics, a new study reported by the USA Today shows that employers are becoming more eager to hire veterans. According to the Center for a New American Security, 70 (percent) of businesses believe that hiring a vet is good for business, stating that they had leadership skills, purpose, direction and motivation that made them attractive job-seekers."
