Speaking to a spirited crowd of more than 150 people at a New Brunswick church, the Rev. Al Sharpton promised to  in the shooting death of Barry Deloatch by city police. He said he would join local efforts to get the United States Attorney's Office to investigate. Almost two months after Deloatch was killed by city police, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan continues to investigate the shooting.

A man died after being  at the Millburn station Tuesday, authorities confirmed. According to witnesses, the man was apparently on the tracks when a train struck him. An NJ Transit spokeswoman said the train that struck the man was not carrying passengers and was on its way to New York's Penn Station.

Hoboken could  to pay its employees before the end of the year, after the city council was unable to move $2 million in line items during Monday night's council meeting. The largest chunk of the money is $900,000 in fire department overtime. If the money isn't transferred, the city may run out of money to pay its firefighters, as well as other city employees.

A conservative government watchdog group says it has asked state officials to determine whether Gloucester Township Mayor David Mayer's position with Comcast could  to continue serving as mayor. Mayer's job as Comcast director of legislative affairs for New Jersey while holding office violate's the state's Optional Municipal Charter Law, South Jersey Citizens political director said while addressing the township council Monday night. Mayer dismissed the watchdog group's position as "nonsense" following the meeting.

The state Appellate Division  from lawyers for convicted child murderer Porfirio Jimenez, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi announced Thursday. As a result, Jimenez will continue to serve a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murder, attempted rape and kidnapping of 10-year-old Walter Contreras in 2001. Jimenez's defense argued that there had not been sufficient evidence from police to issue a search warrant for a swab from Jimenez to obtain DNA evidence, according to the Nov. 17 decision.
