Rabies Vaccination Clinic to Take Place at Armory

On Jan. 28 at the National Guard Armory on Eggerts Crossing Road, Lawrence Township will hold its free rabies clinic for dogs and cats older than 3 months.

Lawrence Township’s free rabies vaccination clinic that was postponed on Jan. 21 due to the snow that fell that morning will now be held this upcoming Saturday, Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at a new location: the located at 151 Eggerts Crossing Rd.

The clinic will be for both dogs and cats who are 3 months of age or older.

All pets must be leashed or in carriers, and be accompanied by an adult. For safety and insurance purposes no children under 7 years of age will be allowed to attend.

Everyone attending the clinic will be required to first stop at the armory’s guard shack and provide proper identification.

January is dog license renewal month for Lawrence Township residents. Dog licenses are due by Jan. 31, 2012.

Any dog over the age of 7 months is required by law to be licensed.

According to state law, in order to obtain your dog’s license, the pet’s rabies immunization must be valid for the entire licensing period. Should your dog’s rabies certificate expire anytime between January 2012 and Oct. 31, 2012, you are required by law to revaccinate your dog prior to obtaining its 2012 license.

Dog licenses are renewed in the Municipal Clerk’s Office. Proof of current rabies certification and proof of spaying or neutering (if applicable) must be presented when a license is purchased by mail or in person.

The fee is $11 if the dog is spayed or neutered and $14 if not spayed or neutered. Effective March 1 a delinquent fee will be assessed in the amount of $5 plus $1 per month for each month delinquent.

Cat licenses in Lawrence Township are renewed annually during the month of September.
