Free Child Car Seat Safety Checks Offered Saturday

Statistics show that more than 73 percent of child safety seats are used improperly, event organizers say.

Lawrence Township police – in cooperation with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Safe Kids New Jersey, and St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center – will offer free child car seat checks this Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Lawrence in the 2300 block of Lawrence Road (Route 206), near Interstate 95.

“Did you know that more than 73 percent of child safety seats are used improperly?”

That sobering fact, as presented on a flyer for the event, should have many parents heading over to the event.

The flyer further reads: “Make sure your children are riding safely. Certified technicians will give your child’s safety seats and booster seats a free inspection.”

Appointments are recommended but not necessary.
