Environmental crusader Erin Brockovich spoke at Rider University's Earth Day celebration on Thursday, April 19, on the Lawrence Township campus.

The subject of the Oscar-winning 2000 film bearing her name, Brockovich found fame by helping expose Pacific Gas & Electric for leaking toxins into the ground water of tiny Hinkley, Calif., leading to the largest medical settlement in American history.

"The environment is either our enemy or our ally, depending on how we take care of it," Brockovich reminded the Earth Day audience. "It is our economy, and it's our business. If it fails, we fail."
