Editor's Note: The following is a news release issued by Mercer County Park Commission.

The Mercer County Park Commission is excited to announce the summer camps at the Mercer County Equestrian Center.

This summer, the Park Commission will host six weeks of horseback riding camps. These popular camps are open to children ages 6 to 17, and are geared toward riders of a range of skill levels, from beginner to intermediate.

Each week of camp is specified for a certain riding level. Weeks 1, 3 and 5 are for beginners, and weeks 2, 4 and 6 are for advanced beginners to intermediate riders.

Beginner camp is for riders with little or no horseback riding experience. Advanced beginner to intermediate camps are for those with riding experience equivalent to group levels 1, 2 or 3. For those unsure of which camp to register for, the Equestrian Center instructors can offer guidance.

Camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition to rider lessons, daily programming includes hands-on experiences with horse care, barn tasks, grooming and tacking.

The cost is $375 per week for in-county residents.

Registration opens Feb. 1 and can be completed on-line by going to the Equestrian Center’s page on the Mercer County website http://nj.gov/counties/mercer/commissions/park/equestrian.html and clicking on ONLINE REGISTRATION or by going to https://register.communitypass.net/mercer.

You can also register in person at the Equestrian Center, 431 Federal City Rd., Pennington, N.J., during normal business hours.

For questions regarding the summer camps or registration, call (609) 730-9059 or contact the Mercer County Equestrian Center Manager, Christine Cardinal, at ccardinal@mercercounty.org.
