County Ice Skating Center to Open for Season Nov. 10

For a fun, affordable activity just right for people of all ages, look no further than Mercer County’s Public Ice Skating Center. The rink opens for the season Saturday, Nov. 10.

The Skating Center, located at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, is open to the public seven days a week during the operating season, which runs Nov. 10 to mid-March.

“Our Skating Center continues to grow in popularity and is an affordable activity for all our residents,” said Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes, noting that in addition to open skating, the rink offers private lessons, hosts exciting high school hockey games, and is available for private parties.

The Skating Center has a full snack bar, a fireplace and lounge area, dining tables, vending machines, skate rentals, a skate sharpening service and lockers. The center offers general public skating sessions, birthday parties and ice time for hockey. The center offers group rates and private party rentals.

Registration for group skating lessons will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, and Sunday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the skating center. A group lesson application can also be obtained by visiting the link below and may be mailed in for registration. Mailed-in registration must be postmarked by Nov. 2.

Opening weekend hours are: Nov. 10, 1-3:30 p.m., 5-7 p.m. and 8-10 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 11, 1-3:30 p.m.

Regular hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Fridays 7:45-10 p.m.; Saturdays 1-3:30 p.m., 5-7 p.m. and 8-10 p.m.; Sundays 1-3:30 p.m.

Senior Skate (62 and older), offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30-10 a.m.

Adult Only Skate (21 and older), offered Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30-10a.m.

Ticket prices are: Adults, $8; Juniors (11 and under), $6; and Seniors, $6. Skates can be rented for $3 per pair. Frequent skater passes also are available.

Group lessons for adults and children ages 5 and older begin Nov. 10 and 11 from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. The lesson programs run for five weeks with rolling admission. Lesson prices are: Adults, $65; Juniors, $60.

Private skating lessons are held on Saturday and Sunday mornings. A private lesson for one person for 20 minutes is $22. A semi-private lesson for two people for 20 minutes is $26.
