Gallery at Mercer County Community College Calls for Entries for 2011 Mercer County Photography Exhibit

Jurying of photo entries will take place Saturday, Oct. 29

Editor's Note: The following is a news release issued by Mercer County Community College.

The Gallery at Mercer County Community College invites area photographers to submit work for the 2011 Mercer County Photographers exhibit.  Jurying will take place Saturday, Oct. 29.  Dates for the show are Nov. 9 through Dec. 19.  The Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission is the sponsor of this biennial exhibit.

Artists working in all photographic media/processes who are 18 or older and live, work or attend school in Mercer County, N.J., are eligible to submit up to three photographs for consideration.

Photographers should drop off their work at the MCCC Gallery between 9:30 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Oct. 29.  Work that is not accepted for the show should be picked up between 3:45 and 5 p.m. the same day.

The juror is Ricardo Barros, an award-winning photographer and photography teacher whose work is included in numerous private and public collections and museums, including The Smithsonian, the Fogg Art Museum, and the Museum of Art of San Paulo, Brazil. In addition to many exhibition monographs, Barros is the author of Facing Sculpture: A Portfolio of Portraits, Sculpture, and Related Ideas, featuring his portraits of sculptors and their work.

More than $1,000 in prizes, including Best in Show, Juror’s Merit, Honorable Mention, and Mercer County Purchase Awards, will be awarded. Winners will be announced at the exhibit’s Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The Gallery is under the direction of curator Tricia Fagan and is located on the second floor of the Communications Building on Mercer’s West Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Rd.
