Capital Health to Welcome Community for Sneak Peek of New Hopewell Hospital

Open House Scheduled for Sunday, October 2

Capital Health will offer a sneak peek at its new Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell on Sunday, October 2 when it hosts a community open house. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. members of the community will have the opportunity to tour the new hospital and participate in activities on the campus.  The tour will feature a rare insider’s view of an operating room and an opportunity to meet and ask questions of the clinical staff in each department. The event will offer kids activities including pumpkin painting, face painting and a hay ride. Members of the community will also have the opportunity to learn more about the services that will be offered at the new 237 bed medical center, located just off Interstate-95.

“There has been a tremendous amount of excitement and interest in our new facility,” said Al Maghazehe, Capital Health’s President and CEO. “We look forward to welcoming the community to their new hospital and letting them see what the new medical center has to offer in advance of its official opening in November.”

Members of the community who are interested in attending should enter the campus at the main entrance which can be accessed off of Scotch Road North, Exit 3 off of Interstate-95.

The new Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell will feature advanced medical services in a non-traditional hospital setting that incorporates patient-friendly design with unique, environmentally conscious features. High level, specialized medical services such as neurosciences, digestive health, advanced orthopedic services, cancer, CyberKnife® radiosurgery, daVinci® robotic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and specialized pediatric emergency care will be combined with amenities such as an on-site spa, coffee kiosk, cyber café, bistro and boutique gift shops.

 “Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell was specifically designed to create an environment that promotes healing, reduces anxiety and delivers advanced medical care in a calming, comforting setting,” said Samuel J. Plumeri, Jr. Chairman of the hospital’s Board of Directors. “When people see it on October 2, they will quickly see how we have rethought everything about the typical patient hospital experience.”

The new hospital and attached medical office building will feature environmentally friendly design based on the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System TM (LEED). These features include roof gardens that recycle rainwater, technologies that reduce heating and cooling requirements and patient rooms with ample sunlight and beautiful views.

On November 6, patients from Capital Health – Mercer will be transferred by ambulances to Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell. On that day, Mercer will cease to admit inpatients and will provide urgent and emergency services at its Satellite Emergency Department (SED). In addition to the SED, Capital Health – Mercer will house a wide variety of administrative offices, including Human Resources, Clinical and Community Education and offices of the county-wide Mobile Intensive Care Unit.
