Ben Vereen to Visit Lawrence Township

The award-winning actor will give a lecture at Rider University's Luedeke Center Theater. The event from 11:30 a.m. to 1p.m. Thursday is free and open to the public.

Legendary Broadway performer Ben Vereen will visit Rider University’s Lawrence Township campus as part of a music theater and performing arts master class on Thursday, April 19.

The event, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bart Luedeke Center Theater, is free and open to the public.

On Broadway, Vereen has appeared in Wicked, Fosse, I’m Not Rappaport, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, Grind, Jelly’s Last Jam and A Christmas Carol. He received a Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award for “Best Actor in a Musical” for his role in Pippin.

In January 2012, Vereen received the highest honor in theater when he was inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame. His television credits include Chicken George in Roots and Louis Armstrong in Louis Armstrong - Chicago Style.
