Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing will host an Experimental Aircraft Association World War II vintage B-17 that will be open to the public on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Ronson Aviation.
Tours will be conducted on both days between 2 and 5 p.m.
Visitors may walk through the bomber and representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide insight into the aircraft. Flights in the bomber will also be available.
The restored B-17G Flying Fortress, named “Aluminum Overcast,” is one of only 14 still flying, according to the EAA. The group describes the aircraft as “an icon of the Allied strategic bombing effort that helped turn the tide of battle in World War II. Unlike reading a history book, you can actually fly a mission back in time and feel the might of this magnificent machine, just as those brave young Americans did 70 years ago.”
Walking Tours are $10 per person, $20 per family (adults/children up to 17 years who are immediate family members). Children under age 8 can tour for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Tours are free to all active military personnel and veterans. Flights are $449 per person scheduled in advance and $475 per person at the door. EAA members receive discounted rates. Flights are approximately 45 minutes and are usually conducted before walking tours.
