Women's Leadership Conference In South Brunswick

From South Brunswick Commission on Women:

The 17th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference and Career Pathways on Saturday, March 15, 2014, hosted by the South Brunswick Commission on Women (SBCW) is featuring keynote speaker Hon. Helen E. Hoens (Associate Justice ret., NJ Supreme Court). The SBCW will also be awarding scholarships to two graduating SBHS seniors: Chental-Song Bembry and Allison Wahl.

 The Ellen Gambatese Memorial Award will be given this year to Kathryn Rock. This conference takes place at the at the South Brunswick High School in Monmouth Junction, NJ and mainly benefits female students from grades 8 to 12. This year is conference has about 400 registrants and over 70 speakers and volunteers.

The conference begins at 8:00 am with breakfast and registration. The keynote address, awards and recognition of the major sponsors takes place between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. This is followed by the first session of workshops: Careers in Fitness and Wellness, Date Rape/Sexual Harassment (Educational Workshop), Engineering/Physical Sciences, Fashion/Home Fashion, High School and Beyond (8th grade only), Marketing and Advertising and Teaching Profession – Secondary Education. The second session of workshops are: Act Like a Lady: Questioning Media, Challenging Society, Breaking the Box (Educational Workshop), Allied Health Professions, Culinary Arts, Finance/Accounting, Health Professions, Law Enforcement and Legal Professions.

This conference is mainly funded by the SB Township Council, with generous donations from Arthur and Debbie Roedel, the Islamic Society of Central Jersey as well as donations from many local sponsors including L’Oreal, Johnson & Johnson and alphagraphics.
