NJ Lottery Will Introduce A New CASH4LIFE Game This Week

You could win a lot more than money.

The New Jersey Lottery is teaming up with the New York Lottery to launch the first Northeast regional draw-based “For Life” game, CASH4LIFE, in the two states.

CASH4LIFE offers two jackpot prizes: one is $1000 per day for life, and the other is $1000 a week for the rest of his or her life.

"This is the first draw-based, Northeast regional 'for-life' game," said Judith Drucker, public relations manager of the New Jersey State Lottery. "We're always looking for innovative games to engage and entertain the public."

The NY and NJ Lotteries are holding an event Friday at the Flatiron Public Plaza between 12 and 2 p.m. where the public will have the opportunity to grab some cash out of two money machines on site. The Lottery’s overarching goal is to generate revenue for its beneficiaries, Drucker said.

Lottery beneficiaries include: veterans homes, community and other colleges and universities, school nutrition programs, homes for the developmentally disabled, psychiatric hospitals, higher education scholarship programs and the Marie Katzenbach School for the Deaf. Last fiscal year, the Lottery contributed more than $1 billion to the state.

For the players, winning big cash prizes and living the dream of financial freedom is a key factor for playing. The Lottery has made it possible for New Jersey residents to achieve education, home ownership, and other dreams. Some of the most inspiring stories to come out of the Lottery last year:

5. Jonathan, a college student, grabbed a Win-for-Life instant ticket hours before the game ended on May 5. He was just in time to win the top-tier prize of $1,000 a week for the rest of his life. Jonathan plans to put the money towards his education.

4. Theresa Gray had been struggling financially since she lost her house in a fire in 2012. But in March, Gray bought a ticket in Buena, New Jersey, and won $1 million. “I just feel blessed,” said Gray. “This is what the family needed to get our lives back on track.”

3. Sylvia Vazquez bought $22 dollars worth of instant tickets from W's Freshmart in Union, but only scratched one -- that was all she needed. That ticket won her $1,000,000, which she plans to put towards a college fund, a gift to her parents, and start working towards home ownership.

2. Joe Latronico is a landscaper, so he was having a hard time finding work this Februrary. "I don't often play," Joe said. "Just when the jackpot is big." Luckily it was: Joe won $1 million.

"Mommy," his son said, "We don't have to worry about nothing no more!"

The new game from the NJ Lottery will help them continue to make these dreams possible. Get out there and play -- after all, you never know.
