Frugal Family: Kids Eat Free at Local Restaurants

Area food establishments serve children no charge on designated nights.

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

This column is dedicated to giving you five great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line, and since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.

This week we will look at five weekly “kids eat free” events at local restaurants. The deals may change, so check first with each restaurant before heading out.

Deal: Kids under the age of 12 eat free on Monday nights at Perkins when ordering from the restaurant’s Kids Menu. (The meal comes free with the purchase of one adult dinner entrée with a minimum purchase of $7.99. All taxes are applicable, and no other discounts apply.)

Moe’s Southwest Grill

Deal: Kids eat free on Wednesdays with the purchase of an adult entrée and drink.

Good on: Every Wednesday, all day at Moe’s.


Free meal Fridays at Franklin Park IHOP

Deal: Kids 12 and under eat free Friday nights. A kid’s meal is no charge with the purchase of an adult drink and meal, plus the purchase of a kid’s drink.

Deal: Thursdays and Fridays, kids get a free meal with the purchase of an adult entrée.

Why are all of these restaurants chains -- corporate food, where the profits leave the area -- rather than local and independent, where the profits stay in our community?
